Winteringham Fields, a Michelin-recommended restaurant in Winteringham, North Lincolnshire, enjoyed both a shortlisted entry and a win at the National Racecourse Catering Awards last month.

Now in their 8th year, the awards recognise and reward the UK’s racecourse caterers in a number of categories, from fine dining to fast food and everything in-between.

The fine dining restaurant, who pride themselves on serving seasonal dishes made with the finest ingredients, entered into the awards with resounding success following their one-day takeover of the Beverley Racecourse ‘Attraction Restaurant’ on the 26th September.

They were shortlisted for ‘Best fine dining at a racecourse’, and won the award for ‘Best new catering concept’ following their 8-course tasting menu, which relies heavily on seasonal and local produce. Diners at Beverley Races were also treated to a gin reception with SloeMotion, purveyors of sloe gin and liqueur.

Colin McGurran, owner and Head Chef of Winteringham Fields, comments:

“Visitors to the races come for the thrill, a touch of glamour and a lot of fun. The cuisine they enjoy on the day should reflect and enhance those aspects of the experience, which is exactly what we aimed to do with the menu.”

“Our food is always rooted in nature, usually grown on our little farm or reared by local purveyors. We felt that our menu needed to mirror the experience of being at the races, with the seasonal produce exciting, delighting and complementing the feeling of being outside with the freshly cut grass and crisp air. We’re over the moon that our best efforts were recognised in the awards.”

Beverley Racecourse also secured an RCA Showcase Award by winning the prestigious Food and Beverage Award as a result of the collaboration with Winteringham Fields.

At just a 24-minute drive from Hull city centre, and a 35-minute drive from Beverley, anyone wanting to experience Winteringham Fields’ award-winning cuisine can book in for either their lunch or evening service, where they’re now serving their brand new festive menu.
