Pizza East are not new to the food scene, but their delicious pizzas have got to be up there with the very best in London and for an affordable night out – especially after the Christmas and New year holidays- it’s worth every penny.

This place has much more game than just serving wood fire pizzas as well. With an impressive open bar and kitchen there is an expansive selection of antipastis, larger plates including lamb ragu and cod, salads and vegetables. In addition to their normal a la carte menu, the restaurant deliver fantastic Italian cured meats and cheeses from the deli. Pizza East undoubtedly pleases the masses.

But for me, it’s all about the pizzas. With the aid of the wood fire oven , Pizza East’s dough is light, soft in the middle and crisp around the edges. They don’t hold back on the toppings either. For my choice, a good layer of rich homemade tomato sauce is liberally spread around, topped with stringy mozzarella, wafer thin pieces of cured salami and a dusting of chilli flakes for that extra kick.
The veggie option is just as good with a decent amount of decadent black truffle and a generous helping of cheese in the form of taleggio and mozzarella thrown in for good measure as well. Leave your calorie count at home!

Depending on how big an appetite you have, the antipastis can not be missed! Personal favourites include mouth watering croquettes packed with sticky short rib, creamy fontina, served with a chilli aioli as well as their cauliflower carbonara – a luxurious take on the classic cauliflower cheese – which is just as tempting and there’s plenty of chunky pancetta!
Fresh calamari, prawns and courgettes are a good shout as well. Not too greasy, they are dredged in a spiced seasoned flour and fried until golden and crunchy.

Pizza East has a made a name for itself over the years and with 2 additional restaurants to its name (located in Portobello and Kentish Town) they are certainly doing something right. For a good time, you can’t go wrong with pizza and cocktails.
