Italian meat producer, Beretta, has selected chilled, ambient and FMCG logistics provider, Fowler Welch, for its wide-ranging UK storage and distribution requirements. The contract, which utilises Fowler Welch’s Kent location at Teynham in Kent extends to stock-holding, picking and distribution to Tesco stores and a number of secondary manufacturers.

The Kent location was pivotal in Beretta’s decision to select Fowler Welch for its warehousing and distribution needs, given Teynham’s proximity to the cross channel ports of entry and the Channel Tunnel.

Fowler Welch will stock hold around 330 pallets at its Teynham warehouse, and will undertake the total end-to-end supply chain solution, from receipt of orders, picking, labelling to distribution including EDI ordering and Advance Shipment Notifications.

Beretta, with its UK office in Portsmouth, has been operating in the UK for ten years. The company offers three main brands; Beretta, Wüber and Viva la Mamma.

“We are the ideal fit for Beretta’s storage and distribution requirements,” said Fowler Welch’s Business Development Manager, Jonathan Lee. “We provide speed, flexibility, and the means to ensure Beretta’s products get on supermarket shelves quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.

“This comes with the added incentive of our excellent facility in Teynham, and its proximity to the Channel Tunnel. Indeed, our proximity to all the Kent ports makes us ideally suited for any chilled products entering the UK from mainland Europe. Our strategic location offers easy turn-round for import vehicles to get back to France for a reload.”
