An innovative new solution for premium meats and fish from Europe’s leading multi-material packaging manufacturer, LINPAC Packaging, has been designed to reduce food spoilage and waste in-store.

LINslice is an absorbent EPS base ideally suited to products such as sliced smoked salmon and pre-cooked meats. Micro-perforations have been created within the base to absorb any unsightly juices, which can contain bacteria and lead to spoilage.

Alan Davey, Director of Innovation at LINPAC Packaging, said: “Numerous studies have shown that consumers are willing to pay more for meat and fish which looks fresh and appetizing. The LINslice base has been innovatively designed so that any juices are locked away within the pack itself, offering hygienic and attractive product presentation for retailers.”

LINslice has been developed to work with both HFFS and vacuum bagging applications and LINPAC Packaging has developed LINvac reels and a range of pre-made bags to offer customers a complete packaging solution.

The EPS board is stable under all conditions of moisture and temperature, which can often give rise to an increased shelf life. EPS is made up of 95% air, meaning LINslice is a lightweight, low-carbon option for retailers and manufacturers looking to enhance their ‘green’ credentials.
