The awards recognise excellence within the food industry and build on the success of NSF’s 2011 Company of the Year award. The Global Food Division of NSF International, received two prestigious awards from the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology (Society) for its excellence in food safety. Chair of the Society Awards Judging Panel, Chris Turner, presented Mike Wilson (NSF International Food Retail Managing Director) with the ‘Best New Product & Service’ Award and Jon Adams, Head of NSF’s Processing Inspection, received the ‘Best Auditor/Technologist’ Award during the Society’s annual luncheon on November 22nd in London.

The ‘Best New Product & Service’ Award recognised NSF Insight, a new online food safety assessment developed jointly by NSF and Cognisco, a specialist in assessing and developing workforce competence, to provide consumer safety and business protection in a cost-effective, timely way. The new resource provides insight into workforce performance and measurable tools for improvement by identifying how the role of managers and supervisors influence food safety practices.

Mary Clarke, CEO of Cognisco says, “We are delighted that Insight has won ‘best product’ at this year’s prestigious SOFHT awards. The award win is testament to our innovative approach to assessing employee competence in all areas of food safety management. Insight is delivering compelling results for clients in the food industry, which will help raise safety standards, reduce consumer risks and protect businesses.”

The ‘Best Auditor/Technologist’ Award went to Jon Adams, Head of NSF’s Processing Inspection, for his technical expertise, extensive experience of auditing national, international and bespoke standards and his ability to apply sound judgment in his auditing decisions in a personable and motivating way.
