Blackadder International Ltd has, once again, won medals in the Malt Maniacs Awards. Along with sister company Riverstown, eleven medals in total for its single cask whiskies.

Peat Reek has always done well in the awards. Previous bottlings have won two silvers in 2005, and bronze in 2006 and 2008. However, this time it really excelled by winning the coveted Thumbs Up Award in the Daily Drams category.

According to the Malt Maniacs judges, some dozen who independently blind taste the whiskies submitted, this was awarded as a special mention to bring attention to not only a very good whisky but, in the case of Peat Reek, one at a truly excellent price.

Blackadder also won silver medals, with both Glen Esk and a Blackadder-bottled Amrut being awarded 85 points each.

Through its special relationship with Amrut Distillery in Bangalore, India, Blackadder regularly bottles selected casks of this much talked about whisky. In the case of Raw Cask Amrut, the whisky is bottled in its purest form – with absolutely zero filtration and, as is the case with every whisky Blackadder has ever bottled, without added colouring. Just pure, unadulterated Amrut at its very best.

And the awards didn’t stop there. All of the remaining Blackadder and Riverstown whiskies entered scooped up bronze medals; an impressive achievement!

In fact, Blackadder Smoking Islay is a regular medal winner in the Malt Maniacs Awards.

Having won the ‘Love-it-or-Hate-it’ award in 2006, Smoking Islay has become one of Blackadder’s most popular brands.

Last year, one of Blackadder’s Smoking Islay bottlings won a silver medal. This year the company added two bronze medals to its Smoking Islay accolade.

In another competition, Smoking Islay 55%, entered by Blackadder’s Australian importer The Odd Whisky Coy., also won a Silver Medal in Malt Whisky of Australia’s annual whisky awards.

With the Australian Silver medal added to the 11 medals in total from Malt Maniacs 2012, Blackadder Director Hannah Tucek states: “We are both pleased and excited. 2012 was a truly fantastic year for Blackadder and our sister company Riverstown”.
