Mercury Packaging – one of the UK’s leading flexible packaging specialists – has announced the promotion of Ray Franks to Managing Director with immediate effect. He replaces Tony Stanger who becomes the Nottinghamshire-based company’s Chairman.

In his new role, Ray will be responsible for increasing focus on the organisational and operational development of the company’s rapidly growing UK and overseas business activities.

Ray will be supported by a dynamic senior management team comprising Alison Walker, Chris Stanger and Roland Caley.

Commenting on Ray’s appointment Tony Stanger says: “Having spent the past 13 years building the business, we are now positioned and ready to expand our ambitions. During his time as Sales Director, Ray has been instrumental in increasing sales and establishing Mercury as a highly credible source of flexographic print.

He concludes: “As well as a strong sales background, Ray has extensive operational experience and I have every confidence in his ability to boost production efficiencies and lead the business to further success.”

Prior to joining Mercury Packaging seven years ago, Ray was Commercial Director at Britton Mailing.

Established in 1999, Mercury Packaging employs over 50 people at its site in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and now boasts an annual turnover of approximately £7million. The company manufactures a wide range of plain and printed flexible packaging products, including bags, pouches, film-on-the-reel and laminates aimed at the food, mailing, magazine publishing, retail, security and fulfilment markets.
