The Crowne Plaza Edinburgh – the Roxburghe has won five categories at the Scottish Hotel Awards including the most coveted, Best Hotel in Edinburgh gong.

The Scottish Hotel Awards were established in 2003 as a membership scheme to encourage, recognise and reward hospitality excellence in every department and in considerable depth.

The luxury hotel picked up two gold medals for Senior Management – one for Food and Beverage Management for Wilfried Genderon for his work during the launch of the George St Bar and Grill, the launch of the Samovar Lounge that specialises in afternoon tea, and the record-breaking sales performance over Christmas and the rest of the year. The Food and Beverage team also picked up the Food and Drink Special Commendation award in recognition of these achievements.

The hotel also won the Hotel of the Year Edinburgh category, to reflect the shift in the hotel’s positioning since rebranding to Crowne Plaza and the investment that has been made across the property including the launch of the George Street Bar and Grill.

General Manager of Crowne Plaza Edinburgh – the Roxburghe, Marcello Ventisei who scooped the Senior Manager Gold Medal Award for Exceptional People and Product Advances at the hotel over the year, says he is absolutely stunned to have won so many prizes: “These awards are a reflection on the fantastic team we have working here. The last year has been an incredibly exciting at the hotel and the whole team have all done an outstanding job throughout this period.”

The final prize was won by Gavin Stirling for Concierge of the Year for Scotland, who was praised for being a true ambassador for not only the hotel, but also the Scottish Hospitality industry and an active member of the Golden Keys: “A concierge is a crucial part of the welcome for any hotel and one we particularly pride ourselves on – Gavin heads up a wonderful team that is fundamental to ensure guests start their experience in the right way,” Marcello concludes.
