Sustainability and convenience will be key themes of the Nicholl Food Packaging stand at Pro2Pac 2013 where the company will showcase a variety of latest tray developments, including an ‘eco-friendly’ hybrid format and further additions to its market leading aluminium tray ranges.

Nicholl is the European leader in the design and manufacture of aluminium trays while its wider product portfolio – including fibre pulp trays, paperboard trays enhanced with plastic coating and rim, dual-ovenable board trays, ovenable greaseproof paper bakery trays, film lidding, and film for thermoforming – means the company can offer an extensive choice of food packing solutions to meet individual customer and product requirements.

A key focus of the stand will be the sustainability credentials of many of the products on show. Aluminium trays, for example, already enjoy a very positive environmental profile as a permanent material that is both 100% and infinitely recyclable. Nicholl will show a number of recently-launched smoothwall and wrinklewall varieties, including liddable smoothwall variants with integrated handles for added convenience in placing trays into and removing them from the oven,

The new eco-friendly trays feature a hybrid board and plastic construction with the board sourced from renewable wood, offering a more sustainable alternative to plastics for a wide variety of products such as fresh ready to cook meals and cooked meats.

Another highlight will be the Saica Form trays manufactured in clean room conditions in corrugated board from 100% recycled paper.

Nicholl’s ovenable board tray range offers a leak proof pack suitable for a variety of chilled and frozen applications. For ease of use, the trays remain rigid and cool to the touch during both microwave and conventional cooking conditions. In addition, the trays have now been confirmed by WRAP as being widely recycled.

In addition, Nicholl will show examples from its range of Plastopil Toplex films for the MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) lidding of trays.
