At a time when huge job ‘boards’ and networking sites try to be all things to all people, how do you find the needle in the giant haystack?

Whether you are an Interim Manager looking for your next role, or a Food Manufacturer looking for an Interim, how do you quickly connect with the right people? In many industries, much is made of ‘transferrable skills’, but in Food Manufacturing, the skills required of Interims are specific and difficult to source via generalist sites.

Lisa Johnson and Frederika Roberts, Joint MDs of Jarvis Johnson (the company that pioneered specialist Food Industry Interim Management provision in 1999) believe they have the answer. In June this year, they launched a new company, INTERIM BANK: A web portal that brings together Interim Managers and Food Manufacturers without agencies.

The site is completely free for Food Manufacturers to use; Interims pay a small monthly or annual membership fee (a day’s interim work will pay back a year’s membership at least three-fold).

Aren’t Jarvis Johnson going to lose clients to Interim Bank? “Increasingly, interim roles are being sourced via networking, not agencies” says Lisa. “Interims without the network, time or skills to market themselves are missing out.” Fred adds “Since we launched Interim Bank, not only has the site attracted Interim roles from previously untapped sources, but we have also seen an increase in traditionally sourced assignments via Jarvis Johnson. Now, Interim Managers can be seen by more manufacturers and apply to previously inaccessible roles.”

Phil Collinge of Teabag Talent, who has posted a number of assignments with Interim Bank, says “I promoted a work opportunity through Interim Bank earlier in the summer, and I was impressed with the quality and quantity of response.” The site is also popular with major blue-chip organisations; one Interim who recently secured a role with such a company through Interim Bank commented “…the ‘no fee’ must have given an extra edge over candidates put forward by agencies.”

Innovation or insanity? Time will tell…
