Quality manufacturer and supplier of wafer biscuits and chocolate bars, OP Chocolate expects to recoup its investment in a 53LTi thermal transfer printer from Allen Coding Systems within just 12 months of purchase.

The low-cost machine, which replaced an old coder that was no longer operating efficiently and was causing too much downtime, has increased production time by 15% and, with its automated system of changing the code and print quality, reduced changeovers from 15 to 2 minutes, producing perfect print quality every time.

Installed on an automated bagging machine, the 53LTi currently operates at speeds of up to 75 bags per minute to print production codes and best before dates onto laminated printed film, for the packaging of mini two-finger wafer bars for European export.

Says Alan Barker, Site Services Manager at OP Chocolate: “We should have done it years ago! Installation was very simple using a custom-made bracket supplied with the unit. It was installed on time, within budget, with no fuss and first class operator instructions given. The result is improved print quality, ease of changing the code, good value for money and simple operation. I would recommend it and Allen without hesitation.”

The entry level, high performance, low cost 53LTi thermal transfer printer is versatile enough for printing fixed and variable data, text and graphics. It is also designed to reproduce bar codes, ‘real time’ time codes, sell-by dates, batch numbers, prices, source codes, 2D data matrix codes and much more.

Allen Coding is part of the ITW Coding & Marking Division, which also comprises Allen Spain, Norwood, Diagraph, Trident and Allen Germany.
