JRP Solutions, the UK based business improvement specialist, have developed an innovative new methodology designed to reduce process energy consumption by up to 30%.

This new methodology, called Energy Catalyst, has been developed in collaboration with a select number of JRP’s existing customers from across a number of industry sectors to help manufacturing businesses reduce their operating costs whilst also lowering their emissions thus helping to achieve their sustainability targets.

The current and potential energy performance of individual assets, process lines, buildings or even sites are evaluated and certified using a similar A – G system to that used for domestic white goods. Practical Improvement opportunities that will close the energy performance gaps are identified, evaluated and costed before being uploaded to a Continuous Improvement database that is used to drive and measure the implementation programme.

In recognising the resource constraints many businesses experience, JRP are able to manage the implementation programme from capital approval and tender analysis to project management. And where capital investment is required the typical payback of less than 18 months meets the investment criteria of most businesses.

Damian Magill, former Chief Engineer at Weetabix, commented “The Food Industry faces a challenging future with rising costs and tough sustainability targets. The development of the Energy Catalyst couldn’t have come at a better time and will provide a welcome relief particularly for those businesses struggling to maintain their competitive advantage.”

JRP Solutions founder and Managing Director, Jes Rutter commented “We recognised that whilst food manufacturers were aware that 80-90% of their energy is used within the conversion process there was no fit for purpose tool that would help reduce the process energy consumption. We recognised this as being a huge opportunity and the development of the Energy Catalyst is an exciting prospect not just for us but all manufacturing businesses.”
