SodaStream; Make Someone Happy This Christmas

SodaStream has announced a £1.5m brand marketing campaign, including above the line TV advertising, which will see SodaStream on screens across the UK from 10th November up until Christmas. The significant investment comes on the back of huge growth for the brand in the last year.

The ‘Make Someone Happy this Christmas’ campaign will feature two different 30 second spots which capitalise on the humour and light-heartedness of the SodaStream brand. They feature either a teenage boy or a mother un-wrap their Christmas present – a SodaStream – both of whom are so delighted and overwhelmed that they are moved to tears of joy! The campaign captures the fun of SodaStream, but also highlights the simple and compelling message that SodaStream truly is the perfect gift for any family member this Christmas.

The ads, which will run for a total of five weeks, have been strategically placed throughout commercial breaks during peak viewing times in popular soaps such as Coronation Street – ensuring all the family are targeted. It is estimated that 83% of the UK population will see the ads an average of six times, a powerful campaign to encourage Christmas shoppers to Get Busy with the Fizzy this year.

Fiona Hope, Managing Director of SodaStream UK comments: “This is a very exciting phase for the SodaStream brand, both globally and in the UK. We have grown significantly since our re-launch and we’re predicting Christmas this year to be even better than last, due to the sustained investment in the brand over the last 18 months, which has reinforced the brand’s place in today’s world. SodaStream is without doubt the ‘hot’ Christmas present this year. ”

With increased retail distribution in the UK, and phenomenal success in countries such as USA, Australia, Italy, the iconic brand invented by Englishman Guy Gilbey in 1903, is changing the soft drinks category across the world. Using an innovative carbonation system, SodaStream offers an alternative to pre-packaged drinks. Creating sparkling soft drinks at home from ordinary tap water means people pre-cycle.

The latest TV advertising follows SodaStream’s “World Without Bottles” campaign, which highlighted the environmental impact of plastic bottle waste in the UK with environmentalist Erin O’Connor.

The TV roll-out this Christmas will be supported by a PR and social media campaign, alongside a demonstration programme across the country.
