Coloured Mini Cones, the popular wafer canapé from pastry specialist Pidy UK, was the recipient of a prestigious Fresh Ideas Award at this year’s IFE show in London.

Selected by a panel of high profile judges including ex-editor of the Grocer, Clive Beddall and Martin Bates, CEO of The Craft Guild of Chefs, the award is given for the year’s ten most innovative products, chosen from several hundreds of entries.

Pidy’s award-winning Coloured Mini Cones have been enjoying considerable popularity since they were launched in the UK last year. Apart from their obvious taste and eye appeal, the product’s unique selling point is a gold/silver two way artist’s palette containing holes for the filled canapés. Three matching feet can be slotted into the palette to create a stunning table centrepiece – or the filled cones can simply be handed round in the holder.

Colour Mini Cones come in four natural colours – red (tomato), green (spinach), black (squid ink) and plain. They are particularly useful for colour co-ordinated table settings.

Speaking at the Fresh Ideas award ceremony, Robert Whittle, Pidy’s UK general manager told journalists. ‘As you can imagine, we are delighted to have won this award. It recognises the innovation and creativity for which Pidy is known throughout the hospitality and retail markets.’

Said Mr Whittle, ‘It is most important to Pidy that our customers can rely on us to continually deliver leading edge, award winning concepts.’
