Zorneding/Munich, 12.05.2011. TSC Auto ID has now also presented the latest member of the TDP-247 printer family for EMEA. The 4″ direct thermal desktop printer TDP-244 offers a resolution of 203 dpi and printing speeds of up to four ips – customary high performance at a price which is around 20% lower than that of comparable printers in its class. The robust device in a high-quality design has a large memory with 8 MB DRAM and 4 MB flash. It comes with a USB 2.0 port as standard.

“The TDP 244 provides the perfect mix of proven quality, high performance and low price,” explains Bryan Lee, Sales Manager at TSC Auto ID Technology Co., Ltd. The heavy-duty device is thus suitable for small-office and home office users as well as for small parcel and postage printing or for shipping and retail. The TP-244’s compact housing makes is ideally suitable for label printing in even the smallest spaces. “This printer is based on the proven TDP-245 architecture which TSC has been using with great success for eight years now,” Bryn Lee adds.

Many extras already integrated ex works

As expected from TSC Auto ID, the new printer is also equipped with many “extras” right out of the box. 8 MB DRAM and 4MB FLASH ensure a simple storage of fonts, international character sets and graphics. Ex works, the devices already support a fully compatible set of standard industry emulations, including the printer languages Eltron® and Zebra®.. This facilitates the replacement of old installed hardware. An SD card slot for extended memory is integrated in the TDP-244 in addition to the USB 2.0 port. The 60 watt power supply allows labels to be printed in high quality. Centronics, RS-232, Ethernet, keypad with display, peel-off module or cutter can be delivered as options by dealers – as can an external media unwinder which allows the use of label rolls with an outer diameter of 8 inches and a 3 inch core. As with all models, TSC Auto ID provides a two-year warranty.

Simple handling and proven architecture

The user-friendly double-wall clamshell design allows easy loading of the labels in the large centre-based media bay with a five-inch outer diameter. Top-of-form sensing by black mark or notch is a standard feature and can be set over the whole width. A sensor display indicates an open print head. This device allows the use of ribbons and label rollers with outer diameters of up to 127 millimetres.

The TDP-244 is a new economy version of the proven TDP-245 architecture which has already been installed in more than 100,000 printers and has become a best seller since its introduction in 2002.

Like all TSC devices, the new model is perfectly adapted to the environmental conditions. The TDP-244 can be stored at temperatures from minus 40 to plus 60 degrees Celsius and can withstand humidity levels of up to 90% without problems. Smooth operation is possible at five to 40 degrees Celsius and up to a humidity of 85%.
