The Food Storage & Distribution Federation is delighted to announce the winner of its 2018 Future Leader competition. Following written applications from a wide range of candidates which were assessed on their content, the final 3 were invited to make a presentation to a panel of judges, made up of members of the FSDF Board of Directors, about themselves, their experience and their vision for the temperature-controlled storage and distribution industry.

The standard was once again high, and the judges had a tough choice, ultimately selecting Steven Plant, Head of Operations atGrocontinental, as the winner. Steven, 33, will accompany Chris Sturman, CEO of FSDF to the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses / World Food Logistics Organisation convention in Florida, USA at the end of April.

Speaking about the trip, Sturman said, “Attending the IARW/WFLO convention in April will give Steven the opportunity to meet not only his peers from other countries, but also network with veterans of the industry and gain a greater understanding of the temperature controlled food supply chain on a global scale. Previous winners have found this to be an invaluable experience andenhancement to their career prospects.

“Our sincere thanks go to FSDF Associate Member, Storax, who have sponsored the award since its conception, three years ago, and to all the 2018 candidates. We would encourage all of them to apply again later this year for the 2019 competition, as an extra year in this industry sometimes makes all the difference.”

Steven will be formally presented with his award at the FSDF Annual Lunch and AGM to be held on 24th May at Fishmonger’s Hall, London.
