DMMP Limited, which imports ‘forgettable’ recycled Poly-Wood garden furniture was thrilled that this year a seaside family favourite took the decision to use its products in a new venue.

Attracted by the idea that Poly-Wood furniture can be used, enjoyed and not worried about as it is maintenance-free, Butlins loved the range when it was suggested for a large decking area at the holiday resort’s new 400-cover Sun & Moon Public House at their Skegness site. The furniture for the 100-cover outdoor decking area had to rise to the challenge of being used frequently and being subjected to British summers, sea air and cold winters.

The project manager for the new venue was Leisure Concepts Limited, an architectural, interior and graphics consultant.  One of the criteria for the deck was that it should not be made from wood to minimise wear and environmental impact and that the furniture on the deck should also meet the same criteria. The furniture also had to be outdoors all year.

Sarah Palmer, interior designer at Leisure Concepts Limited, was responsible for the project. “The search for furniture took us to Poly-Wood as their range was ideal for high traffic areas. The range was also strong and resilient plus it had aesthetic appeal.” Sarah specified Poly-Wood’s Traditional dining chair and garden armchair and combined it with the Nautical table. “The furniture has been really well received and is in constant use. The sand colour of the furniture blends in with the overall design perfectly and has made the open dining area a real success. We were very pleased with the service DMMP Limited provided which was successfully concluded within the timescale we were working to.”

The Poly-Wood range is created from recycled plastic bottles and, unlike wooden furniture, the comfortable range needs no treating, maintenance or painting plus the colour does not fade. The fittings are commercial stainless steel so they do not rust and each item is heavy enough to stay put in even the windiest weather but light enough to be handled.

“It’s easy to see why our range appealed to somewhere as popular as Butlins,” explains DMMP commercial director Colin Hood. “It is fuss-free and doesn’t not need to be put away each winter so it is able to be used all year round. With impressive credentials, the range looks great as well – stylish with excellent colour choices. It’s bucking the trend even with wood lovers who like the wood grain effect designed into the product. It’s a choice set to please the environmentally aware end-user as well as the financial director as you can expect thirty years of service from each piece.”
