It was a great night for Northampton based flexible packaging manufacturer FFP Packaging Solutions at the European Flexographic Industry Association Awards, as they picked up TWO Gold Awards, FOUR Silver Awards and a Bronze, presented by ex-British Lion (and Northampton Saint) Martin Bayfield.

Especially pleasing was the Gold award won in the Promotional Print category for Platinum Print, FFP’s new high-definition print solution. Taking advantage of the latest developments in printing plates, and adding to that two year’s research into every aspect of the flexographic print process, from mounting tapes to ink types to stochastic screening algorithms, Platinum Print is a system developed specifically by FFP for FFP, matched to FFP’s new generation printing equipment. Platinum Print takes flexographic print on to the next level, with real advantages in soft edges in vignette areas, deep, strong solid colours and vibrant and dynamic half-tone areas to really bring images to life.

In the Medium Web category, FFP achieved Gold again, this time for an Aunt Bessie design, ‘Bowl Size Popovers’. Popovers are an American version of Yorkshire Pudding, often eaten sweet and cooked in muffin tins.

The Silver awards came from FFP’s print of Swizzels Monster Bag in the Best On Shelf category, M&S Gluten Free Lochmuir Salmon for Cavaghan and Gray and Tulip International’s Wicked Pig multipack in the Line and Screen Section. Wicked Pig Hog Roast pack also picked up a Silver, this time in the Process Print section. FFP also notched a Bronze award in the Line and Screen category for Yeo Valley Disney Yogurt Tubes.

Commenting on the Awards, Tom Bewley, FFP’s Production Manager, said; “It’s great to be recognised by the industry, and we’re really proud of what the whole team at FFP has done. Platinum Print is the result of a lot of research and a lot of work, and the results speak for themselves”.
