Sullivan Design specialises in the design and project management of food processing facilities, often partnering with a small group of businesses and individuals to tailor services for a client’s needs and more importantly their budget!

The company was first launched back in 1976 by Larry Sullivan, designing specifically for the food industry. It has since undergone several management and ownership changes but with the current partners Will Wright and Matthew Cartwright, still retains its food industry focus. At Sullivan Design, extensive design and food project management experience has been gained with a history of over 1200 projects for over 400 clients. Its reputation has been built on this success and has resulted in a high proportion of repeat business over its history.

Of course, a food factory is not something you build every year, and so it makes a lot of sense to have a partner who is familiar with best practice and who can save you money and ensure that the project is completed on time. When Will and Matthew successfully re-launched Sullivan’s last year, they got off to a flying start including a recently completed £3 million chill store extension for a leading dairy in Derbyshire and are currently working on a £5 million conversion of a factory to a snack meat products facility and a £1 million milk testing laboratory project. With enquiries beginning to arrive from old customers and some new ones, there are aspirations to build on this growth through 2012 and current enquiries include a further £4 million Dairy project and a £1 million production facility for ethnic sauces and pickles in the UK – there’s even one for a new 150km² chilled foods facility in the Middle East!

With over 75 years collective experience of food factory engineering, the team at Sullivan Design provide a virtually unique service in process and building services solutions for food factory developments, taking in bakeries, meat processing, prepared salads and vegetables, ready meals, preservatives and condiments, dairy, chocolate and confectionery, fish and seafood processing, and snack foods.

Will and Matthew have set up links with other food industry specialists that they have worked with over the years including Architects, Cox Freeman Partnership, which has already produced successful collaborative projects since the company’s recent re-launch.

In addition, the in-house Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers, Godfrey & Co, are always on hand to provide their cost-focussed input: often essential in today’s market! With the availability of this broad range of talent, Sullivan Design has the capacity to handle projects from design through to completion. And you can rest assured that no project, regardless of size, will pass the demanding Sullivan Design quality control standards until it has been checked and verified by most experienced members of the team.

Each project has senior commitment, with a personal involvement in all major projects by at least one lead professional: their expertise delivering value that makes a real difference.

So no matter what size or how complex the project, Sullivan Design helps its clients to reach their goals, professionally and cost-effectively. Indeed, by setting the budget, diligently monitoring the actual costs, and identifying budget variances early in the construction process, Sullivan Design finds solutions to potential cost overruns before they become reality and affect the entire budget.

Doing so enables the company to manage its projects efficiently so that clients can be assured they will never be charged for unnecessary work or materials.
